 It ain’t all about me...

There are times when my head tries to convince me of the illusion that it (whatever “it” is) is all about me. Generally, I discover that I am a victim of this delusion when I become frustrated that things are not going exactly as I think they should be.

Thank goodness I have the grace available to me through the Holy Spirit to check myself to discover that I am in self-will and it ain’t about me.

When I accept this, I refocus my attitudes and look to see what I can bring to the situation instead of trying to see what I can get out of it.

The amazing thing is that it then goes far better than I imagined in my selfish self-centered mind! …Check your experience. …

“But be sure you are on solid spiritual ground before you start and that your motive in going is thoroughly good. Do not think of what you will get out of the occasion. Think of what you can bring to it.” Big Book pg 102

Lord, thank you for the grace that the Holy Spirit brings us to remind us that self-will can be deceptive and Your will can show us the truth, AMEN.

"Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude." 1Peter 3:8

Have a blessed day y’all

 Learning to rely...

We learn from an early age to rely on others. As children we rely on adults to keep us healthy, safe, and to help us grow.

As adults we learn that self- reliance only takes us so far and we need to rely on people, places, and things to get through our daily journey.

This is a good plan, but we are only as good as what we choose to rely upon.

Think about it. People are human after all and prone to failures and mistakes. Places can change due to the people in them or economic circumstances. Things like electronics get outdated and even obsolete.

So, the question is what can we rely upon that never changes and always is in step with our lives?

Maybe it’s different for you, but the answer for me and my house has been, is, and will forever be to rely on our relationship with God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit… Check your experience…

“When we saw others solve their problems by a simple reliance upon the Spirit of the Universe, we had to stop doubting the power of God.” Big Book pg 52.

Lord let us learn to rely on You and trust Your presences and guidance in our lives, AMEN.

“…we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God,” 2 Corinthians 1:9

That Personal Trainer at the Spiritual Gym…

It seems just about everyone has a physical fitness routine they try to follow. From gym memberships to hiking, biking, or running, most folks I know are doing something daily to keep their bodies healthy and in shape.

The point is that physical fitness involving diet and exercise is now a part of our culture.

Being physically healthy is something we need to own but what about our spiritual health?

How are we building up our spiritual fitness?

The good news is that just like our physical fitness routines, we can keep spiritually fit too. Daily time spent in the Word, prayer, as well as frequent contact with other believers can and does build up our spiritual fitness.

What does your daily spiritual fitness routine include?..

Check your experience…

“Assuming we are spiritually fit, we can do all sorts of things” Big Book pg 100

Lord, let us grow spiritually healthy through daily time spent in Your Word and in prayer, AMEN.

“Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart.” 1Timothy 4:8-9

He is risen, nothing to fear.

This Easter Sunday I am humbled with the newness that the Risen Christ brings to our lives.

Being reminded of how His death conquered all that drags us down and truly brings me back to the roots of our faith and our freedom.

The twists, trials, tests, and temptations, that we face daily can easily distract and pull us away from the life changing truth that is given to and waiting for us...

Eternal life is ours for the asking.

All we gotta do is ask and believe…

Check your experience…

“…we had to stop doubting the power of God.” Big Book pg 52

Lord, thank you that Jesus is risen! Please help us today to walk in the power and grace of the risen Christ. Please let us always seek Your will and not be stifled by our own, Amen.

“The angel spoke to the women: “There is nothing to fear here. I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said …." Matthew 28:5-6

Have a blessed Easter y'all!!

Sunday / Resurrection Day is coming!

Even though we seem to see a lot of questioning, and political challenges to our Christian faith today, Jesus faced even more intense opposition and persecution during His time.

The various leaders of the time were out to protect either their religious and or military power.

They were determined to not let this popular rebel named Jesus become a symbol of challenge, start a cause, and bring cultural change.

Thank goodness even their best efforts could not stop the power of God!

Empires have tried to bury and destroy the gospel for centuries, but no one can keep Jesus’ body in the grave.

His resurrection power lives on and is spreading across the earth!

It’s apparent in the lives of all who believe and take Jesus as their personal Savior. All I can share with you is to compare your own life before and after you accepted Christ as your Savior.

My life is blessed beyond my wildest dreams since I began walking with Jesus and following His Word many years ago…

If you do not know Jesus as your Personal Savior, I invite you to explore this relational concept…

 Please, check your own experience….

“What seemed at first a flimsy reed, has proved to be the loving and powerful hand of God.” Big Book pg 28.

Lord, thank You for Jesus and the promise of eternal life when we make Him our Lord and Savior, AMEN.

“So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first. Take a guard, Pilate answered. Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” Matthew 27:64-65

So why is it called GOOD Friday and not Friday MOURNING?

If today is the day that Jesus died on the cross, what is so good about that?

Because of something so unbelievably bad happening on this day, we have all received something eternally and forever good.

The tragedy and horror of Jesus’ death followed 2 days later with His resurrection resulted in the eternal and everlasting opportunity for anyone and everyone who turns to God, through Jesus Christ, to be forgiven from their sins and to receive eternal life.

So, the great part of today is that what happened long ago can give anyone who asks eternal life.

Those of us who believe and receive this know from our experiences of getting to meet, know, and follow Jesus.

Through His Word, and because the Holy Spirit enters our life, and we are shown daily a whole new way to think and live…. Check your experience ….

“To us, the Realm of Spirit is broad, roomy, all inclusive; never exclusive or forbidding to those who earnestly seek.” Big Book pg 46.

Lord, thank you for the ultimate sacrifice for our sins to give us eternal life, AMEN.

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30

Exchanging the truth for a lie…

Part of being human and having free will is dealing with the constant challenges we face daily for our attention and focus.

There is all kinds and types of never-ending noise around us attempting to grab our attention and take us hostage emotionally.

We are led to believe by many tricksters and false prophets that their product or service will fix us and make us complete. It never ends, or so it seems...

The gift of free will allows us to be able to consciously choose what we focus on and what we allow to grab our attention. The person, place, thing, or situation that we allow to dominate our mind will eventually invade our heart and drive our behaviors.

It becomes our “god”.

So, the suggestion I want to make today is to take a long look in the mirror and ask ourselves, what or who is our God?.. Check your experience...

"we had to fearlessly face the proposition that either God is everything or else He is nothing." Big Book pg 53

Lord let us open our hearts and minds daily to turn our will and lives over to You to be free of the worldly false Gods, AMEN.

"They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator." Romans 1:25
